Therapeutic Approaches: Exploring My Healing Methods for Mind and Body

Understanding Therapeutic Approaches

Healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. Different therapeutic approaches offer unique ways to support emotional resilience, trauma recovery, and overall well-being. Some focus on body awareness, others on connection, but they all share the goal of helping individuals feel more balanced, grounded, and present in their lives. This guide introduces key therapeutic methods, with a special focus on somatic and equine-assisted therapy.

Why Therapy Matters

At its core, therapy is about creating a safe space for healing. While methods may differ, they all aim to:

  • Restore Nervous System Balance – Helping individuals move out of survival mode and into a state of regulation.

  • Deepen Self-Awareness – Encouraging a greater understanding of emotions, sensations, and personal patterns.

  • Build Resilience – Offering tools to navigate stress and challenges with more ease.

  • Strengthen Connection – Whether it’s with yourself, others, or the natural world, connection is a key part of healing.

My Key Therapeutic Approaches

Somatic Therapy

This body-based approach helps release stored trauma and restore nervous system balance by bringing awareness to physical sensations and stored stress patterns.

  • Through combining talk therapy, breath, bodywork, and touch.

  • Helps process trauma without overwhelming the body.

  • Encourages safety and reconnection with the body.

Therapy with Horses (Equine-Facilitated Therapy)

Horses have an incredible ability to mirror emotions and respond to nonverbal cues. Equine-assisted therapy helps individuals reconnect with their bodies, build trust, and regulate emotions in a natural, non-judgmental setting.

I believe that the only way we should offer sessions with horses is when they have complete free will to join in on the sessions. On top of this, horses should live in a herd and have the complete freedom and space to simply be a horse. We should only offer therapy in the presence of horses when they are given a choice. They are extremely sensitive animals that should not be coerced into anything nor be used as tools for human healing.

Philosophical Exploration as Therapy

Philosophical exploration allows individuals to engage with deep questions about meaning, identity, and existence as a way of processing emotions and experiences.

Everyone has a personal philosophy yet not everyone is aware of this fact or lives according to their personal philosophy. Through means of philosophical exploration, clients gain deeper insight into what truly matters to them and how they can live their lives accordingly.

Integration of Therapies

I work with an integrated approach that combines the above types of therapies. These therapies complement each other. For example, Somatic Therapy complements Equine-Assisted Therapy by adding a layer of body awareness that helps individuals process emotions in real-time.
